Australian fashion during the 1960’s were strongly influenced by the British and Americans. Australia was introduced to these fashion changes during the 1960’s, mainly by America and England. This was introduced to Australia through movies, magazines, television, designer’s line, models visiting Australia or international popular models and advertisements. Overseas influence such as American culture influenced Australian fashion in many ways after world war two Australia and America were like "buddies" America had a rock and roll evolution in the 1960's and this soon hit Australia with johnny O'Keeffe becoming Australia's own Elvis. The teenage rebellion was raging and many fashion influences also came from America. Television was also another influence as most of the programs aired on television were American and this rubbed onto Australians and their programs. British influence in the 1960s was very strong as the British culture still had a very strong hold on every day Australian life. Food clothing and religious culture were very British. Influencing Australia on their styles and up dating trends.
